Yet again, Charles Utah scored a brace as Abuja Metro FC continued an impressive start to the year with an emphatic 4-1 victory of Jagula FC.
The match played at the Government Secondary School Area 10 Garki saw coach Chinedu Modebe make four changes to the starting XI that defeated Konsole FC two weeks ago.
Starting XI: Saka Ominisi, Mohammed Wakil, Eze Vitus, Kennedy Badmus, Prince KennJones, Dupsonie Ramson, Charles Utah, Ikenna Ekedoro, Success Orji, Goodluck Jonathan, Bernard Bitrus
Subs: Promise Anyanwu, Frank Ahonye, Ocheni Victor, Samuel Offiong, Nuhu Ismaili, Bobby Abba
Despite the changes, it took just three minutes for Success Orji to score the opener.
President Goodluck Jonathan was the assist provider, to the delight of the bench.
13 minutes later, Ikenna Ekedoro made it 2-0 for The Metros before Prince KennJones found Charles Utah in the 23rd minute for the third goal.
Jagula FC were relieved to hear the half time whistle with Abuja Metro FC leading 3-0.
After the break, coach Modebe made two subs in the 50th minute: Bobby Abba came in for goal scorer Success Orji while Victor Ocheni replaced Goodluck Jonathan.
Frank Ahonye replaced Ikenna Ekedoro in the 65th minute before Charles grabbed his customary brace in the 75th with new sub Bobby Abba the provider.
Leading 4-0 with 15 minutes to go, Coach Modebe had the luxury of maximising his substitution.
Nuhu Ismaili replaced Mohammed Wakil in the 76th minute, Sam Effiong came on for Bernard Bitrus in the 80th before Promise Anyanwu replaced Saka Ominisi in goal three minutes later.
Jagula FC capitalised on the changes to grab a consolation in the 85th minute courtesy of Aliyu.
Donning the kit from FC Bayern Munich, Abuja Metro played like World Champions. It is now two wins in two games in 2021.
