Abuja Metro FC Record First Goalless Encounter

Abuja Metro FC recorded a first goalless encounter in the history of the club after holding New Boys FC at the Old Karimo Field in Abuja.

In continuing the series of friendly matches in preparation of the FCT FA League, the team left the comfort of the training ground for a trip away to play The Tigers.

Coach Modebe played Prince Jibotoh in goal for his debut.

Starting XI: Prince Jibotoh, Bernard Bitrus (c), Fauzil Yusuf, Leonard Oboh, Yohannes Oboghare, Eze Vitus, Prince Kennjones, Naphtali Oboghare, Success Orji, Kehinde Badmus, Charles Utah.

Subs: Saka Oniminisi, Nuhu Ismaili, Dupsonie Ramson, Henry Obioha, Bobby Abba

The game was a tough one as Abuja Metro FC battled with the physicality of the game. With so many fouls in the game, The Metros suffered injuries.

Few minutes into the second half, Captain Bernard Bitrus picked up a scary wrist injury. Immediate medical attention was required as Jonathan Habakkuk came on for the captain.

In the 64th minute, Coach Modebe made three subs – Saka Oniminisi, Nuhu Ismaili and Dupsonie Ramson came on for Prince Jibotoh, Success Orji and Fauzil Yusuf respectively.

A minute later, the Metros had to make a forced substitution after Kehinde Badmus got a knock. He was replaced by Henry Obioha.

The best chance of the game fell to Leonard Oboh who missed a free header in the 65th minute. 10 minutes later, he was replaced by Bobby Abba.

Jonathan Habakkuk also had some long range chances but none of his shots troubled the New Boys FC goalkeeper.

The game ended 0-0, a first goalless encounter in the history of the club.
