Exactly a year ago, Abuja Metro FC squared up against Da-Priest Prolific FC in our first competitive game in history. We matches out in our green shirts and black shorts in the 2019/20 FCT FA League.
The Abuja Metro FC Media caught up with Bethel Onwughara who scored our only goal in that game. He remembers the goal very well.
“Yes, I do (remember the goal). It was a good goal from a wonderful long-range pass from Prince Kennjones. His vision was key to the goal because he saw my run and played that wonderful pass.”
Scoring the first competitive goal for Abuja Metro FC was a wonderful feeling for the striker. “It was a wonderful feeling to score because as a striker I live for goals.”
“It was a mixed feeling because I scored, and we lost the game with a big margin. Overall, we gave out best even though we had some defensive problems before the match but there’s no room for excuses especially when expectations are high.”
Abuja Metro FC lost the game 4-1 but finished the season with a 2-1 win over D-Marshall FC.
Bethel Onwughara now plays for Thrift Echoes of Abuja.
