Grand Soccer Starz Held at Home by Abuja Metro FC

Charles Utah did what he does best – scoring for Abuja Metro FC – as Grand Soccer Starz FC were held to a 1-1 draw at the Tundunwada Secondary School, Wuse Zone 4, Abuja.

With Coach Modebe unavailable, it was Team Manager Martins Ojay & Assistant Patrick who took charge of the game away in Wuse Zone 4.

Fauzil Yusuf who missed out of the Unity Cup 2021 tournament is back with the team. Andrew Anuge also made his first start for the team.

Starting XI: Saka Oniminisi, Benard Bitrus (c), Prince kennJones, Naphtali Oboghare, Yohannes Oboghare, Jonathan Habakkuk, Charles Uttah, Fauzil Yusuf, Dupsonie Ramson, Nuhu Ismail, Andrew Anuge.

Subs: Ajayi Samuel, Kehinde Badmus, Henry Obioha, Success Orji, Henry Jones, Bobby Abbah.

The host were shocked when Charles Utah opened scoring in the 23rd minute from a beautiful assist from Yohannes Oboghare. Grand Soccer Starz responded immediately. They grabbed the equalizer in the 27th minute.

In the 30th minute, Dupsonie Ramson was sent off and the bench had to make tactical changes. Andrew Anuge’s debut was cut short with Kehinde Badmus his replacement. Henry Obioha replaced Ramson Dupsonie.

Immediately after the resumption of the second half, Success Orji came on for Nuhu Ismail before Ajayi Samuel made his debut in goal in the 52nd minute. He replaced Saka Oniminisi.

The Metros huffed and puffed but couldn’t breakdown the resolute Grand Soccer Starz backline. Bobby Abbah was sent in for Jonathan Habakkuk with 20 minutes left to play but the game ended 1-1.

It was Yohannes Oboghare – the younger of the Oboghare brothers who emerged AMFC Man of the match.
